Horizon: building the next step in biotech growth at the Biotech Campus Delft
A new development is on the horizon for the Biotech Campus Delft. With the working title Horizon, ASR Dutch Science Park Fund, together with dsm-firmenich and Planet B.io, is taking the next step in further strengthening the campus as a leading European hub where biotech innovation, collaboration, and scale come together.
Horizon plays a key role in the long-term vision for the campus: creating a seamless growth path for biotech companies, from early-stage ventures to mature industry players. By adding high-quality, flexible space, the building will offer companies the opportunity to take their next step, while also attracting new, established biotech organisations to the campus.
Designed for flexibility, built for the future
With approximately 7,500 m² of lettable floor area (around 60% dedicated to laboratories and 40% to office space), Horizon responds directly to the increasing demand for advanced lab facilities. The building will be prepared for ML-1 and ML-2 laboratories and equipped with high-end technical features, ensuring it can support a wide range of biotech applications.
Flexibility is central to the design. Large, column-free floorplates, a 7.20-meter structural grid, and compact central cores allow for adaptable layouts that evolve with tenant needs. This makes it possible to adjust the balance between lab and office space over time, supporting companies throughout different phases of growth.
Strengthening the campus ecosystem
Beyond functionality, Horizon is designed to support connection. An open and welcoming ground floor, green elements, and shared spaces across multiple levels will create opportunities for interaction, both within the building and with the wider campus community. In this way, Horizon not only provides space, but also strengthens the collaborative environment that defines the Biotech Campus Delft.
The architectural design has been completed, and the project is currently in the financial feasibility and market exploration phase. In the coming period, ASR Dutch Science Park Fund will begin engaging with potential tenants and partners, in close collaboration with Planet B.io and CBRE. This early engagement will help ensure that the building’s final configuration aligns with the needs of future users. Construction is expected to start in 2027, subject to sufficient demand.
With Horizon, ASR Dutch Science Park Fund and Planet B.io continue to develop a scalable innovation ecosystem that supports biotech companies in their next phase of growth.
