Planet is a firm believer in the triple-helix innovation model, and actively connects people in the biotech community. Collaboration between science, education and government helps scientific knowledge break through boundaries and lead to innovative, valuable products and services.

In collaboration with our partners, we are looking to create value for the companies in the ecosystem. The partnerships are designed to support start-ups in their journey, amplifying the opportunities for collaboration, research, education and funding, and essentially increase the biotechnology start-ups’ likelihood of success.

Meet our founding partners

Climate change, healthy food for the rapidly growing world population and the scarcity of raw materials are major societal challenges that we can solve with the power of biotechnology. DSM and Delft University of Technology have a wealth of biotechnological knowledge and at the ecosystem of Planet has all the facilities, from labs to a pilot plant. If you are a startup, SMEs, large company or a knowledge institute, for all of them is a place at Planet Collaboration is crucial if we want to grow into the biotechnological hub of the world. That is why DSM, the Municipality of Delft, Delft University of Technology, the province of South Holland and InnovationQuarter are working on accelerating the development of Planet

We are proud of the world leading position that TU Delft has in biotechnology. It’s all about “impact for a better society”. Besides a place for excellent education and research, we want that society can benefit from new technology that is created at the TU Delft; in the form of innovative applications and products. With Planet we are expanding the ecosystem around TU Delft with high-quality industrial testing opportunities, an ideal environment where our startups can grow and with a place to collaborate with companies that share our mission.
Marja van Bijsterveldt
Delft is the birthplace of industrial biotechnology. For 150 years, groundbreaking biotechnology research has been done at DSM and TU Delft, and technical inventions have been successfully commercialized. At Planet, scientific knowledge and skills are transformed into knowledge-intensive companies, and innovation and employment are encouraged. The development at Planet will lead to a growth in both direct and indirect employment in our city.
South Holland wants to become one of the first fully circular regions in the world. Industrial ecosystems are important building blocks in this transition. We support promising biotechnology companies that want to establish themselves at Planet, so that Planet can fully develop its important role as an accelerator for the development of sustainable food, chemistry and fuels.
